Guangdong Electronics Industry InstituteGuangdong Electronics Industry Institute (the Institute), a provincial public technology Center for the electronic information industry, was founded by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the Government of Dongguan Municipality, and the Institute of Computing Technology (ICT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The Institute covers about 8000 square meters office and scientific research space. Its elegant environment, abundant resources in talents and technologies have lent the academy great power in offering research and resource training services to companies and factories in the Pearl River Delta, contributing to the comprehensive upgrade of the regional industry infrastructure. Based in Dongguan, the Institute covers the following regions: Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and other parts of the Pearl River Delta. Through setting up public research and development facilities, technology exchange and promotion platforms, it aims to foster new key competitiveness in the local electronic information industry, which is mainly based on independent innovations. There are two kinds of major output from the Institute. One is technology, product and intellectual property rights; the other is the localization of outstanding talents. Through academic degree education, special technology research, management skills training, branding and intellectual property right research, the trainees from the Institute will master not only the skills for research and development, but also the innovation awareness and management capacity essential to enterprises. The Institute has two major functions: While developing technology and new products, it emphasizes testing technology and establishing compulsory standards. In addition, the Institute not only pays attention to the actual market value of the research achievement, but also protects relevant intellectual property rights. Particular attention is also given to the construction of the standard electronic products research centre and the test centre. The first-rate technological support, reliable consulting and attestation services offered by the Institute will minimize costs and technology barriers for our clients in obtaining various compulsory certificates in the process of going to the global market. Additionally, the Institute will provide access to experts on intellectual property rights strategy and some specialists on patent, IC design and trade mark. With their help we will share the risks with our clients concerning intellectual property and establish a sound system in protecting intellectual property rights. The Institute’s development will follow the principles of Openness, Integration, and Innovation. The Institute will adopt an open-up strategy for development, offering free access to all enterprises, government departments and individuals. Bringing together all the external advantages and making full use of the enterprises and individuals, the Institute will cooperate closely with overseas counterparts and keep abreast of updated global technology trends. As an engine for local economic development, the Institute will be a valuable source of new productive forces.
