Research and Testing Center for the Electronic Product StandardsResearch and Testing Center for the Electronic Product Standards
Possession of a trustworthy quality certification system is a golden key to the market. The standardization institutions at home and abroad have issued all kinds of standards, many of which are compulsory. These protect the interests of the customers and pose an entry barrier to the technical market. Manufacturers must employ painstaking efforts to meet those standards. Moreover, to gain an official certification, they must undergo certain specific procedures. This Center aims to lower the cost for the local enterprises to gain the official certification and upgrade the local products’ quality and market competitiveness at a steady rate. It also aims to develop into an institution of authority that integrates product testing, certification and measurement for the products’ quality and reliability. Thus it is a primary objective for the Center to improve product quality through the aid of the advanced facilities and a high caliber service team, and assist the products to reach the level that is required by the relevant product standards, in order to raise the percentage of customers passing the official certification process. Following this, the Center gradually obtains the necessary authorization from various certification institutions, including IECQ electronic components quality certification and CCEE safety certification, and so on, so that the local customers are provided with more convenience in gaining their respective certifications. Initially the Center will provide services for the local customers in the field of USB testing. USB is a brand new generation of standard interface bus of great significance. It embodies the trend of “plug and play,” thus it has great market potential. The internationally known institution—USB-IF takes charge of organizing testing and verification of the compatibility of USB devices. In recent years, USB-IF announced that the new types of logos protected by the trademark laws must undergo compatibility testing for all devices. Only after the devices are in compliance with relevant standards can they be marked with USB-IF logos on their packages. Currently, some of the certifications gained by the manufacturing enterprises in Mainland China are issued by testing institutions overseas. The logos of USB-IF are as follows: a) low speed USB device logo b) high speed (full speed) USB device logo c)USB-OTG logo Main items tested include:
Nearly all of the major companies in US and Japan have adopted USB-IF Logo Test Certification for their products. The certification has become a universal standard in the industry and some of the products of the major companies in China (such as Lenovo) are undergoing rounds of USB logo test certification. |
